Blogger Creates Croqueta Taco with Miami Restaurants

In anticipation of Miami’s annual 305 Day on March 5, a tantalizing culinary partnership has been formed to commemorate the city’s gastronomical legacy. George Arango, known for his influence as @Mr.Eats305, is joining forces with two culinary giants, Islas Canarias and Coyo Taco, to introduce the “croquetaco”. This fusion dish skillfully combines iconic elements of Miami’s culinary repertoire while adding a distinctive spin on a well-loved recipe. “The croquetaco, houses Islas Canarias’ iconic ham croqueta within a crispy cheese taco shell, complimented by sweetness from roasted pineapples, tanginess from cotija cheese, and a spicy hit from jalapeños and chipotle sauce,” says Arango. The special-edition delicacy will be on offer for $11 at all Coyo Taco outlets from March 5 to the end of the month and will be exclusively available on DoorDash for the same duration.

Motivated by a sense of appreciation of Miami’s rich gastronomical heritage, Arango envisaged merging the celebrated croquetas from Islas Canarias with Coyo Taco’s acclaimed tacos. In partnership with Scott Linquist, the chef at Coyo Taco, and brother-sister duo Eileen and Jonathan Andrade from Islas Canarias, the team strived to create a harmonious blend of Cuban and Mexican flavors.

The croquetaco also contributes to a worthy cause, with Coyo Taco promising to donate some of the proceeds to Chapman Partnership for the Homeless to mark the 305 Day festivity. As Arango puts it, “We wanted to ensure this dish, created by the 305, is also for the 305. It’s significant to us that we can contribute to the local community in this way.”

Moving forward, Arango plans to pursue diverse culinary collaborations and fusion recipes that unite varying flavor profiles and key community elements. The croquetaco is a testament to the vibrant culinary scene in Miami. “Miami is such a cultural melting pot. There’s so much beyond just Cuban and Mexican influences,” states Arango. “I’m eager to develop dishes inspired by every nationality that contributes to Miami’s uniqueness.” On March 5, Coyo Taco will further celebrate 305 Day with $5 margaritas throughout the day. The croquetaco will then be available at all Coyo Taco outlets in Miami and Fort Lauderdale until the end of the month.
