Baldur’s Gate 3 May Feature Unexpected Crossover

A compelling poll shared by the director of Baldur’s Gate 3, accompanied by an enigmatic image, suggests a potential crossover with another game, Vampire Survivors.

The director of Baldur’s Gate 3, Swen Vincke, sparked intrigue with his recent comments on a possible union of his award-winning RPG and the fantasy game Vampire Survivors.

Baldur’s Gate 3 and Vampire Survivors have both gained remarkable success, the former crowned with multiple Game of the Year awards and the latter exceeding its anticipated success as an indie game.

Swen Vincke, the head of Larian Studios, stirred excitement with his latest Twitter post hinting at a potential collaboration between Baldur’s Gate 3 and Vampire Survivors. The post consisted of a poll with two options, “Yes” and “F— yes”, implying the poll was essentially symbolic, with decisions seemingly already taken.

At the moment, over 18,000 votes have been cast, with 51.1% favoring the “F— yes” option. A perplexing image accompanying Vincke’s tweet shows him with someone appearing to be Luca Galante, the creator of Vampire Survivors. The image drew a flurry of fan comments expressing desire for some fun crossover elements, such as a Baldur’s Gate 3 character featuring in Vampire Survivors, or vice versa.

The two games may both reap benefits from a potential crossover. Baldur’s Gate 3 has seen a slight dip in its usually massive player numbers, and Vampire Survivors has also experienced a plateau in player engagement over the past year. The crossover could inject fresh content, drawing in new players. For Larian Studios, the move could rejuvenate the Baldur’s Gate 3 community ahead of the game’s Q1 2024 physical release, while potentially drawing more fans to Vampire Survivors as its creator works on the adaptation of the game for an animated TV series.

Baldur’s Gate 3 follows the 5th edition rule set of Dungeons and Dragons, with players choosing a starting class to complete quests and engage in turn-based combat. The game is both single player and cooperative and was released in August 2023 by Larian Studios.
