Benihana RA Sushi Opens First Fast Casual Branch in Brickell

Benihana, the popular Japanese teppanyaki and sushi chain, with more than 100 restaurants, has opened its first fast-casual restaurant. This newly opened location, Benihana RA Sushi Brickell, is located at 54 SW Tenth St., next to Red Bar and is under the management of Erick Passo, known for operating Black Market Miami and Ben’s Pizza locally. Now, people can enjoy their Benihana favorites for no special reason with all the showmanship of the dine-in experience removed, says Passo. What makes this venture unique is its relaxed atmosphere which means you don’t need a big occasion to enjoy your favorite dishes. The dining experience is still elevated, yet it’s made more accessible for an everyday meal.
This specific branch is situated in an intimate 1,260-square-foot space with several tables, and instead of the usual teppanyaki chefs preparing food at the customer’s table, they are behind the counter.
The menu features favorites from the restaurant, including edamame ($7), a spicy tuna sushi burrito ($17), a hibachi chicken bowl ($15), and other hibachi dishes from colossal shrimp to a New York steak/chicken combo in the $18-$36 range. They also offer 16-ounce containers of their popular Benihana garlic, Yum Yum, and ginger sauces for $8. According to Tom Baldwin, CEO and President of Benihana, this new partnership aims to preserve the same time-tested traditions that customers have loved for 60 years. It also fits their strategy of continued expansion.
In addition to dining in, home delivery is also available through benihana.com and various apps such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. The current operating hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., but they plan to extend this to accommodate late-night cravings.
