Femme House Hosts All-Female Panel at 2024 Miami Music Week
Femme House, an advocate for diversity in the dance music space, is set to return to Miami Music Week. But that’s not the only exciting news they have. To celebrate Women’s History Month, they’ve launched the much-awaited 14-song compilation Femme House Vol. 2, a venture alongside Insomniac Records.
DJ and producer LP Giobbi, the founder of Femme House, is thrilled to honor Women’s History Month with this new compilation. She highlights the urgent need for female representation in the industry, saying, “There is only a meager two percent of female producers, and this compilation showcases some of my favorite female and gender-expansive creators currently revolutionizing the field.”
Femme House Vol. 2 includes a brilliant array of female and female-identifying artists such as LP Giobbi, Femme House’s Head of Education Mini Bear, Mary Droppinz, Baby Weight, and the Lisbona Sisters. LP Giobbi’s vision, reiterated in her 2022 interview with Billboard, focuses on the critical need for representation. She believes “If you can’t see it, you can’t be it.” She has built Femme House on this principle, making it an essential platform for those voices that often go unheard in the music world.
In preparation for their second participation in Miami Music Week, Femme House is planning a panel discussion featuring industry stalwarts at the W South Beach on Friday, March 22.
Not just stopping at activism, LP Giobbi is known for her energizing DJ sets and live piano shows. She has gathered over 150 million streams across various platforms. She dedicated herself to addressing the gender imbalance in the music production sector when she co-founded Femme House with Hermixalot in 2019. The initiative has since given thousands of female and gender-expansive individuals the opportunity to learn through production workshops, online programs, and scholarships.
Operating as a nonprofit, Femme House strives to foster fairness in music. It amplifies the voices of women, femme, gender-expansive, nonconforming, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC creators. Through education, scholarships, mentorship, community building, and visual representation, Femme House tears down barriers and empowers future creators and executives from marginalized groups.
Femme House is set to team up with W Hotels to present “Creating Opportunity in Dance Music”, a free event at the Lawn at the W South Beach on Friday, March 22 at 2 p.m. For more information, visit thisisfemmehouse.com. Make sure to RSVP via posh.vip for admission.
