New Bespoke Service by Lotus for Unique One-Off Cars
Vehicle customization is becoming increasingly popular, with almost every luxury car maker, and even some mainstream brands, providing customization options straight from the manufacturer.
Over ten years ago, Lotus recognized this demand but had to outsource its customization work to the tuning firm Mansory due to limited resources. This later evolved into Lotus Exclusive, a restricted service, which has since morphed into Lotus Chapman Bespoke.
The new service, named after Lotus founders Colin and Hazel Chapman, provides a comprehensive range of customization options. Collaborating closely with the Lotus design team, Lotus Chapman Bespoke will be able to provide options as basic as bespoke badges and interior trim up to completely bespoke builds. The options are categorized into three primary groups: Tailor Made, Collection, and One-off.
Tailor Made will provide customers with the choice of distinctive colors, trim materials, and specific personal touches. Collection will offer select limited-edition vehicles designed by Lotus’ design team and sometimes developed with partners such as artists and luxury brands outside the car industry. One-off, as the name implies, allows for a completely unique build.
Lotus Chapman Bespoke is set to debut in China in April and will expand to other markets in the subsequent months. A timeline for the U.S. release has yet to be announced.
Customization services are highly sought after in the luxury car market. Companies like Ferrari and Rolls-Royce experience a demand for some form of customization from virtually all customers. These companies also offer options ranging from unique color and trim choices to completely bespoke builds, costing millions of dollars to commission.
